As the chief development officer for the Agency, plans, directs and manages a comprehensive development program. Leads development activities of the Board, supervises staff and oversees department activities. Builds and sustains relations with donors, influential leaders and decision makers throughout the community. Develops strategic plan to promote growth and implements annual giving programs, capital campaigns, major gifts, planned giving and special events programs. Directs all marketing campaigns for the Agency including brand marketing, marketing communications, public relations and social media activities to present one voice and one image to the community.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS*
Provides leadership and management essential to the design, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive development programs to fund the short- and long-range objectives of the Agency.
Drives the advancement of major gifts and planned giving programs of the Agency through leadership gifts from individuals, organizations, corporations and foundations; leads the cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects, maintaining contact with key prospects and donors.
Oversee the grant writing and submission process, ensuring that grant research is conducted to expand prospects, competitive grants are submitted and awarded by private foundations and government entities, reporting is completed in a timely and effective manner and strong and mutually supportive relationships are formed and stewarded with grantors.
Oversees strong annual giving campaigns both online and offline.
Develops comprehensive strategic and operational development plans for the Agency including detailed fundraising strategies for annual, capital and endowment giving, online and offline fundraising strategies, as well as, staffing and budget requirements, revenue and expense projections, goals, timetables and precise measurements to monitor effectiveness and efficiency.
Directs all marketing activities, including social media, to support the Agency. Coordinates both community-based and mission-based Agency marketing activities including brand marketing, public relations and marketing communications.
Serves as a member of the management team, working closely with Agency staff and the Board of Directors to ensure effective communication, plans and strategies to support the promotion of the Agency.
Provides leadership, direction and support to the Development Committee chair.
Serves as Agency spokesperson for philanthropy efforts.
Prepares reports for the Board of Directors and Executive Director, as needed.
Oversees accurate, timely and efficient data management of the donor database including oversight for all related donor, sponsor, email and prospect information to assist with key fundraising activities for the Agency.
Supervise and motivate development staff providing leadership, direction, praise and constructive feedback.
Keeps abreast of new technologies to promote all aspects of the Agency.
Serves as mandated reporter for suspected cases of abuse and/or neglect to the Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC).
PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
At least 5 years of experience as a multi-faceted fundraiser and marketer for a nonprofit.
Database experience and a demonstrated understanding of the importance of gathering good data, establishing metrics, and preparing reports.
Willingness to work flexible hours when needed, including evenings and weekends on occasion.
Proven achievement and expertise in development planning and management of major and planned gifts through knowledge of various methods of charitable giving and knowledge of the legal and tax implications of both current and planned gifts.
Demonstrated effectiveness in non-profit fundraising and program enhancement, including strategic planning, supervision and program development.
Ability to generate enthusiasm and coordinate community and civic groups, businesses and individuals to work together to benefit the Agency.
Strong knowledge of social media.
