MCA Communications, Inc. is looking to hire an Accountant to join our growing team. You will work directly with our Finance department and assist the department in closing the books of the various companies, while providing support to management, internal and external customers. Responsibilities will include financial accounting analysis and reporting, ad-hoc reporting and analysis, and account reconciliation. Must have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks at once, and a wide scope of experience managing clerical responsibilities.
Accountant Job Duties and Responsibilities
Applies principles of accounting to analyze project and ledger activities for posting journal entries and reconciliations. Completes and maintains the general ledger for the monthly close of books and records in accordance with standards and policies.
Record fixed asset purchases, sales and dispositions, and depreciation (book and tax). Provide support for tax preparations, filings, and payments for property tax.
Provide support to accounts receivable and payable groups as needed for cash receipts, payables, and inquiries.
Perform account analysis and monitor for unusual items.
Provide support for financial statement preparation.
Prepare audit work papers and supporting schedules, for external audits and customer audits.
Coordinate inter-company transactions with related companies.
Attend project forecast meetings and coordinate with project teams on project specifics.
Establishes and maintains financial controls procedures, documents, and policies.
Interact with all departments, as well as internal/external parties, including banks, unions, customers, and external auditors/accountants.
Accountant Requirements and Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), with construction experience preferred
Solid analytical skills and technical expertise, including financial statement preparation
Knowledge of computer systems (Sage, Quick Book Enterprise), including Microsoft Office products
Strong ability and interest in account reconciliation and documentation
Must have strong work ethic and professional, hands-on attitude
Strong organization, presentation, and communication skills
Ability to prioritize workload, learn quickly, and maintain sensitivity and discretion to confidential nature of assignments
Ability to work evenings and weekends during financial close periods, and as needed
Bachelor’s degree in finance or Accounting required
CPA or MBA preferred
2-4 years of accounting experience
