Early Childhood Assistant Director


Salem Community Child Care is seeking a full- time Assistant Program Director to join our team. Salem Community Child Care has been providing high quality early care and education since 1981. Applicants must possess a high level of experience along with creative- strong lesson plans. Our school requires positive, high energy teachers to work alongside our dedicated team. We offer low student to teacher ratios and excellent benefits.

Must be willing and available to work full-time, 40 hours.

The Assistant Director holds primary responsibility for curriculum development, including planning and training with teaching staff, working with specialists, supervising teachers, and meeting with parents. Secondary responsibilities include assisting the Center Director with the operations of the center, including scheduling, licensing, and fiscal management of the program. Ensure smooth and organized operation of the center.

  • Must have a true passion for nurturing children of all backgrounds and have unending patience.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of Child Care Administration experience with proven leadership skills, must be dedicated to the improvement of the teaching profession and able to provide constructive criticism and helpful solutions to other teachers without alienating or discouraging them.
  • You should possess good observational and analytical skills and be able to offer fresh, creative solutions in difficult situations.
  • Serve in various roles throughout the center as needed including teacher, cook and/or driver


Skills, Education, and Experience

  • At least two years of early childhood education experience required, with an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and the ability to ensure its use in the classroom
  • A love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day
  • Excellent administrative, organizational, verbal, listening, and communication skills required
  • CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
  • Must meet state specific guidelines for the role
  • Must be physically able to use a computer with basic proficiency, lift a minimum of 40 pounds, and work indoors or outdoors. Must be able to assume postures in low levels to allow physical and visual contact with children, see and hear well enough to keep children safe, and engage in physical activity with children.
  • EEC Director 1 & 2 certification
