Job Title: Sr. Accounting Manager, Construction

General Description:

Sr. Accounting manager position directs and coordinates a set of accounting activities to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, policies and internal/external audits for diverse revenue centers.

Supervision Received: Executive Officer, Commerce Finance

Supervision Exercised: Accounting Managers and Staff Accountants

Supervision Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible to ensure accurate financial records for diverse revenue centers.
  • Work closely with Directors of Finance and others in the organization in analysis and reconciliations of accounts and in development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures and controls.
  • Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all cost incurred are properly recorded, reviewing and approving journal entries, account balance reconciliations and report preparation.
  • Participates in the ongoing development/establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes.
  • Works directly with external and internal auditors along with the Executive Office and Director to ensure a clean and accurate audit.
  • Prepares staff performance evaluations and handles personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, and performance issues.
  • Works with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
  • Interviews and recommends candidates for hiring, mentors/develops personnel, coordinates and provides training to new and existing staff.
  • Collaborates with the other finance department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Responds to inquiries from the Executive Officer, Finance Director and other finance and operations managers regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
  • Supports the Director with special projects as well as stands in for other supervisors in their absence.
  • Supports budget and forecasting activities.

Preferred - Ability to independently manage high-level technical projects from start to finish.

Preferred - Strong Analytical skills providing expertize to work through issues on a diverse scale, where analysis of data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors.

Preferred - Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high-pressured environment with stringent deadlines.

Preferred - Must be a self-starter, flexible, have a high level of integrity and is action and goal oriented in a fast paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Preferred - Strong analytical and technical GAAP knowledge.

Preferred - Leadership training.


Bachelors Required - Bachelors of Science in Accounting.

Masters Preferred - Masters of Accounting.

Advanced Preferred - CPA, advanced degree, or special skills related to the position a plus.

Education Note:

Training And Experience:

Preferred Experience (5+ years) - Five years experience in an Accounting related field.

Preferred Experience (6 months - 3 years) - Two years experience with tribal authority accounting.

Preferred Experience (6 months - 3 years) - Two years supervisory experience.

Preferred Experience (5+ years) - Microsoft Excel, Great Plains, and FRX experience.

Licenses, Certifications, Other:

Required - Must be able to pass a background check and obtain a Gaming License if required by the Chickasaw Gaming Commission.

Required - Must be able to successfully complete a negative result on pre-employment drug test.

Required - Must possess a valid driver’s license.
