Computing and Information Services
The Senior IT Support Consultant provides IT related support for the Brown community. As an IT Support Consultant, this position is part of a team in Computing and Information Services which provides in-depth technical support via a combination of on-site assistance, phone, chat, email, remote tools on a variety of computer hardware, software, peripherals, mobile devices and other electronic equipment to the Brown community. This position is assigned to departments which they visit, maintain a close relationship with and provide direct support to, though may be assigned other support tasks as needed. Mentors and assists with training needs for more junior team members. This is a two year position with the possibility of an extension.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related job experience required
3 - 5 years of providing desktop computing support working in a complex environment
One or more MCP, MCSE or MCSA, or ACHDS certifications preferred
Knowledge with Mac, PC and mobile devices including software used at Brown (Office, Filemaker, Remedy, DeskPro, etc.)
Expert knowledge supporting (computers, peripherals); proven ability to problem-solve, understand and troubleshoot complex technical issues and recommend technology solutions.
Knowledge of electronic software distribution tools such as SMS/SCCM, Casper, and ARD preferred
Strong computing, analytical, and organizational skills; project planning and project management skills
Excellent customer service skills
Promotes and portrays positive team work
Excellent written and oral communications
Excellent organizational skills; attention to details
Ability to multitask is required
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Ability to mentor and train junior team members
