Reports to the Director of Operations and Inventory

Responsible for ensuring the Inventory Handling team provides consistent and exceptional service to external and internal customers. Oversee the timely, accurate, and efficient receiving, storage, and transfer of inventory in compliance with established food quality and occupational safety guidelines. Hire, train and schedule staff in alignment with the department’s budget, priorities, and workloads. Drive continual improvement of efficiencies, individual development, and team morale through effective communication and efficient processes. Foster and maintain a safe, positive, collaborative, and equitable work environment. Ensure the inventory handling team and individuals meet the safety, ergonomic, quality, productivity, and behavior expectations of the company in support of our mission, brand and core values.

SCHEDULE: Full Time; Mon – Fri (Occasional weekend days or evening hours as needed)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION

Staff Performance and Development:
Hire, train, and develop staff and leaders in inventory handling (receiving, ltl shipping, offsite storage, replenishment, rotation, cycle counting, returns) ensuring they effectively perform their responsibilities and share our commitment to our quality products and company philosophy
Be an available, approachable, supportive, enthusiastic, and effective resource, role model, and problem solver for staff
Provide consistent feedback and foster continual growth through collaborative employee check-ins, annual performance evaluations, and development of appropriate and achievable individual goals in support of and aligned with KAF annual goals and core competencies
Implement when necessary clear and measurable improvement action plans to ensure all employees are meeting performance and behavior expectations
Create a participatory and high performing environment ensuring timely communication, sharing of ideas, solving challenges, and pursuing improvement opportunities
Monitor & approve inventory handling staff hours and support their effective use of earned, training, wellness, & volunteer time

Operating Procedures:
Propose, document, maintain, and implement all inventory handling training materials and procedures
Establish and communicate an inventory handling staff schedule balancing department workloads and employee availability and strengths while ensuring service levels and budget goals are met
Oversee and ensure effective prioritization of daily, weekly and monthly workflow for the inventory handling depts. (receiving, outbound, offsite storage, replenishment, rotation, cycle counting, returns)
Maintain collaborative, productive, and positive relationships with other department leaders and applicable department business partners
Identify and facilitate continual improvement initiatives using effective meeting and project management practices
Contribute to budgetary and strategic planning by providing input and perform other duties as assigned related to functions under your direct supervision
Participate in the oversight, guidance and evaluation of any 3PL, ltl carrier, or offsite storage partners
Participate in the identification of improvements/alternative opportunities in support of department goals and initiatives.

Quality and Efficiency:
Participate in the establishment of achievable team and individual benchmarks
Tabulate and report on the team’s key performance metrics
Propose and implement action plans to address benchmark shortfalls for each inventory handling department
Facilitate the recognition and celebration of team achievements
Identify new methods for improving efficiencies, quality and service levels. Establish and achieve an implementation plan and timeline for approved improvements

Safety and Ergonomics:
Ensure existing food safety & employee safety programs are active and in compliance with established warehouse food safety certifications & employee safety programs
Immediately address ANY Food Safety, Quality, or Employee Safety issues or any processes which become non-compliant with specified requirements in accordance with proper reporting procedures
Ensure proper training, tools, supplies, equipment, ergonomic and safety conditions are established and maintained for all inventory handling functions
Identify new methods for improving safety and ergonomics. Establish and achieve an implementation plan and timeline for approved improvements
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Excellent problem solving, collaboration, verbal and written communication skills
Proficient computer (operations software) and office software skills (word, excel, outlook)
Participatory and analytical approach to process and personnel problem solving
Understanding of lean business principles and techniques
Ability to operate applicable warehouse related equipment including forklifts
Proven ability to juggle priorities and meet deadlines
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

3+ years related leadership and lean principles experience
College degree or related certifications and training
History of maintaining a customer, culture, & stewardship focused team environment
Effective oversight of a multiple shift, multiple department operation
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand and walk frequently
Ability to frequently reach above shoulder level
Ability to regularly lift, carry, push or pull up to 50lbs
TRAINING/CERTIFICATION UPON HIRE
