King County Department of Information Technology (KCIT) is seeking a strong Senior Systems Engineer to join our Messaging and Collaboration team to provide tier 2 administration and support of the County's messaging and collaboration systems ensuring availability and optimal performance.

In this role, you are responsible for supporting and maintaining the daily operations of key communication and collaboration tools such as our Exchange Hybrid environment which consists of Exchange 2016 and Exchange Online, Office 365 Administration, SharePoint Online, Teams, Planner, Power BI and other Office 365 Apps.

Job Duties
Provide tier 2 support for all Messaging & Collaboration systems (Office 365 Exchange Hybrid Environment, Exchange 2016, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Planner, Power BI and other Office 365 Apps) resolving incidents and responding to service requests
Participate in design-related conversations
Day-to-day operational support by performing advanced configuration and engineering work to ensure high availability and optimal performance
Lead the installation, upgrades, testing, and maintenance of Exchange and other tools, which includes installing new software releases and system upgrades, evaluating and installing patches, and conducting application migrations, refreshes, and restores
Ensure the performance and reliability of systems by monitoring for high availability and satisfactory response time
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and technical documentation for assigned systems
Serve as the technical lead on project teams; act as a resource for staff providing subject matter expertise in Exchange and Office 365 Collaboration tools
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Technical Skills
5+ years of experience supporting Exchange 2010/2016/Exchange Online and SharePoint
3+ years supporting Office 365 platform
Experience creating, modifying and running PowerShell scripts to perform administrative tasks
Configuration experience of email clients (i.e. Outlook)
Understanding of various access methods such as POP, IMAP, OWA, MAPI, Outlook Anywhere and SMTP
Experience with various Microsoft tools like graph API, reporting web services and exchange web services
Working experience of Teams, Planner, Power Apps, Flow and Power BI
Communication and Collaboration Abilities
Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with diverse audiences at various levels of the organization
Ability to explain complex issues in conventional terms
Strong written and oral communication skills; including the ability to communicate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
Demonstrated skills in creating, cultivating, and collaborating with management, peers, cross-functionally, and customers
Ability to work with creativity and flexibility, both independently and as a team member; to work under deadlines and on a number of tasks simultaneously; and, to organize and prioritize quickly in response to changing needs
Positive attitude towards peers and leadership, ability to learn from mistakes, and proactively seeks feedback
Ability to make good decisions based upon a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment
Other Requirements
Successful completion of a criminal background check to include fingerprinting
Any combination of experience, education, and training that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties of the position is also acceptable
Preferred Qualifications
ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) certification
Prior experience in public sector
Project Management/SCRUM experience
MCSE (Exchange 2016 & Office 365) certifications
Supplemental Information
The normal workweek for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; alternative work schedules may be considered. This is a salary position and is not eligible for overtime pay. In addition, you may be required to work additional hours to respond to workload needs and will need to participate in After Hours Support rotations.

This position is represented by PROTEC17 – IT bargaining unit.
