The Ecommerce Controller is a dynamic and critically important, client-facing position. You will be immersed in the financials of each client's business and should be able to confidently translate technical financial details to online entrepreneurs and small business owners, so it makes sense to them.
To thrive in this role, you need a strong understanding of how data works and flows from one system to another, a thirst for continual process improvement, deep knowledge of accounting fundamentals, and ability to effectively collaborate with your team.
What does an Ecommerce Controller do at Catching Clouds?
Oversees the accounting process to ensure quality of the customers' financial data and records.
Handles more complex bookkeeping transactions, including advanced journal entries.
Reviews sales tax returns, payroll tax returns, and other necessary filings to ensure accuracy.
Reviews financials monthly and facilitates closing of the books.
Implements continuous process improvements to ensure that accounting systems remain effective and efficient
Collaborates with internal and external teams to achieve the goals of Catching Clouds and our customers
Client-facing responsibilities for an Ecommerce Controller
Offers advice to customers to help them reach their financial goals.
Ensures customers' questions and concerns are resolved quickly and professionally.
Identifies potential operational issues for customers as their businesses grow (such as new nexus issues, business licensing concerns, etc.)
Acts as liaison with customers' tax advisors to ensure income tax returns are filed (by the tax advisors) quickly and accurately.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing reports; advising upper management and/or customers on needed actions.
Our Ecommerce Controller must have these skills:
Licensed Certified Public Accountant
Experience overseeing accounting for multiple businesses
Ability to easily navigate and learn new technology
Advanced understanding of accounting
Ability to dive deep to solve problems but with the self awareness to come up for air, re-evaluate and ask for help if needed
Personable with good sense of humor
Ability to self-direct activities
Ability to set and meet deadlines

Intermediate understanding of tax implications of financials for the business owners
