The supervisor directs and coordinates activities in the machine shop to maximize labor and equipment resources while satisfying customer and business requirements in full compliance with policies, procedures and all governing laws and regulations. This role requires a hands-on approach that may necessitate running equipment, moving, and inspecting parts and assisting subordinates in their duties.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assesses and assigns resources to meet On-Time Delivery (OTD) and processes plan times based on dispatch lists and production schedules
- Ensures all personnel follow policies, procedures, rules, and regulations to achieve a safe and effective operation with minimal scrap and high throughput
- Frequently works with other departments including Programming, Inspection, Engineering, Purification, and Maintenance in a collaborative manner to optimize local and overall business performance and customer satisfaction
- Actively participates in routine daily, weekly, and monthly meetings covering production needs, challenges, plans, improvement efforts, scheduling coordination and safety performance
- Coordinates, communicates, and effectively executes assignments and duties to optimally achieve production work schedules
- Optimizes labor productivity and manages daily and long-term staffing needs through forecasting, cross-training, and accountability directly with and through leads
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
- Demonstrates leadership skills including coaching, development, coordination, and collaboration
- Manages with competing and dynamic priorities in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
- Continuously drives improvement in all aspects of the operation
- Proactively works to mitigate risks such as safety/environmental, OTD, scrap, inventory control, resource stability and cross-coverage, costs, stock outs, etc.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe operation
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret customer and internal part drawings and specifications
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to clearly instruct team members, evaluate job performance, and respectfully provide necessary guidance and training
- Ability to quickly resolve conflict and optimize employee performance through respectful and appropriate means in alignment with company policies and procedures
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and ability to mentor and train subordinates
- Considerable manufacturing knowledge with sound understanding of machining technology knowledge of the entire TTU process
- A mastery of collaborative interpersonal communication skills
- A buy-in mentality towards policies, procedures, and consistent change
- A commitment to respectful and positive dialog with interdepartmental customers
- Good judgment and initiative in resolving complex nonstandard problems and developing recommendations
- Quantitative thinking and analysis required
- Minimum of 5 years of machining experience
- Minimum of three years of leadership experience in a lead position or through prior supervisory responsibilities.
- Proficient with basic arithmetic and trigonometry
- Word processing, Spreadsheets, E-mail, Inventory, Manufacturing software
- The ability to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervision of up to 25 employees in the Machine Shop and Tool Room

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
