Position Description:
The Plant Controller is a key leader on the plant leadership team and will support the financial analysis for 2 facilities. This position contributes to all areas of plant management and provides strong financial leadership through an understanding of the plant operations. The Plant Controller is responsible for coordinating the annual business plan, cost standards budget, and monthly forecasts in addition to ensuring alignment with GAAP and company policies. This position will provide financial direction to the plant and provide recommendations to improve site performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage all accounting operations for the General Ledger and Inventory/Cost Accounting
Manage month-end closing and prepare monthly financial statements and other operational reports for site
Analyze variances and communicate explanations to management along with recommendations for action where necessary
Prepare monthly forecasts, annual business plan in coordination with plant leadership
Prepare annual cost standards for all products within the plant
Prepare financial analyses for capital expenditure requests
Monitor and implement plant internal controls to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks
Lead, coach, and mentor a staff of two salaried direct reports
Collaborate with Plant Manager and other plant leadership to explain results, make improvements, identify inefficiencies, understand operations and lead the development of complex analysis
Provide proactive consultation, interpretation and education of complex financial and operational matters to various departmental leaders used to drive business direction.
Ensures proper accounting in accordance with US GAAP as well as company policies

Experience / Skills / Specific knowledge / Education

Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstration of key finance competencies, qualifications and leadership capabilities with 8 or more years of experience in manufacturing, with emphasis in cost accounting and budgeting
MBA or CPA preferred
Strong knowledge of US GAAP
Cost accounting experience
Strong MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint). Experience using Essbase, SQL, CyberQuery and other data tools preferred. Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. QAD).
Good planning and organizational skills
Strong Analytical skills
Experience in handling multiple concurrent tasks and meeting strict deadlines
Ability to conceptualize a broad range of operational ideas and translate them into financial terms
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization
Ability to build relationships with colleagues, management and hourly workforce
Must be a team player and act cooperatively with the business
Demonstrate strong and pragmatic business acumen
Up to 25% travel
