The Marketing & Communications Specialist the is responsible for communicating effective, meaningful and relevant information to various audiences (with a strong focus on internal audiences and external stakeholders as appropriate) by shaping, managing and leading strategic communications plans and projects that drive Mount Carmel’s strategies and business priorities. As part of the College Relations and Marketing team, collaborates with assigned partners to create and unify messaging, develop distribution strategies and provide overall guidance as a communications expert. This involves creating integrated communications plans, including content and material development and implementing tactics across multiple media and channels to achieve effective and meaningful communication. This position aligns priorities and timelines.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage an integrated and consistent communications infrastructure to ensure stewardship of the brand in coordination with the system brand strategy, including developing content, key messaging, talking points, presentations; managing design, campaigns, newsletters, publications, meetings, special events, online content, etc., and appropriate budget and tracking.
Build collaborative relationships with project owners, senior leaders and other stakeholders to develop strategies, key messaging, action plans.
Issues/Crisis Communication. Support issue management communications and crises communications as needed.
Manages college Intern, independent contractors (including webmaster), students who work on College Relations projects (ambassadors, work study students and volunteers)Media Relations. Share on-call media coverage on a rotating basis or as needed (including afterhours);
facilitate news media inquiries as needed.
Ensures budget, timing and measurement of projects.
Ensures quality of all materials produced and superior customer service to clients.
Maintains expertise in communications, including issues, trends, competitors’ strategies and introduce best practice strategies.
Requirements/Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or Public Relations/Affairs
Experience: Minimum three years of communications-related experience.
Expertise in developing strategic and cohesive internal communications strategies especially within a matrix organization; strong understanding of colleague engagement, leadership development and change management; knowledge of media/public relations.
Well-rounded experience in developing and executing all aspects of marketing communications channels and platforms, including advertising, publications, social media, meetings, website, special events, etc.
Strong consulting skills and ability to influence senior leaders and other key stakeholders throughout the organization.
Demonstrated project management skills, including ability to prioritize and make decisions, handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously; strong organizational skills; highly self-motivated and self-directed; attentive to detail. Must be able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
Expresses a true comfort with ambiguity and an interest in an evolving and dynamic environment; easily adapts thinking and approach as the situation changes.
