Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. We focus on three key risk areas: credit risk, operational risk, and market risk. We help our management and Board of Directors identify and monitor risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and take appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

The Wholesale Financial Crimes Business Risk & Controls (WFCBRC) team is responsible for the coordination, assessment, and execution of Wholesale Banking’s Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) Program. Specifically, WFCBRC ensures that Wholesale Banking complies with Wells Fargo’s Enterprise BSA/AML Program and applies the Enterprise Program to Wholesale Banking to effectively manage BSA/AML risk. WFCBRC provides the central governance for all Wholesale Banking lines of business (LOB) to drive consistency in approach, interpretation, and execution, while coordinating and partnering with each LOB financial crimes team to ensure accountability and ownership remain within each LOB.

This team reports to the Wholesale Group Control Executive in the first line of defense, which is accountable for assessing and effectively managing all risks, including BSA/AML, within Wholesale Banking. WFCBRC partners with LOB, operations, risk, and compliance team members, Wholesale Group Risk Office (in particular Financial Crimes Risk & Compliance), Enterprise Financial Crimes Risk Management, Wells Fargo Audit Services, and Testing & Validation to advocate and ensure alignment in scope, purpose, expectations, and execution of the Wholesale Financial Crimes Program. The team achieves this through a focus on strong communication, strategic planning, thoughtful and meaningful tracking/reporting, and timely escalation and change management.

The Operational Risk Consultant will report to the Manager of Emerging Risk Due Diligence Group supporting the Risk Baseline and Portfolio Assessment team. The purpose of this team is to conduct Portfolio Reviews, which apply the transactional usage of Wholesale customers to enhance the customer due diligence process. The team will assess transactional usage within customer segments or product types to help establish a better understanding of benign activity versus activity requiring further assessment. This work will aid the LOB execution of customer due diligence by better understanding how the customer’s actual transactional usage compares to its business profile.

In conjunction with senior leaders in the group, the Operational Risk Consultant will design and develop portfolio review products and strategies, work with the group’s technology partners to develop tools to facilitate the elaboration of Portfolio Reviews, participate in training analysts, and serve as an AML/CTF SME for the team. Additionally, the Operational Risk Consultant will lead a small team tasked with conducting pilot Portfolio Reviews as part of the testing and design process and/or in response to Emerging Risk issues.

Required Qualifications

12+ years of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both; or 12+ years of IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience, of which 6+ years must include direct experience in compliance, operational risk management, or a combination of both

Other Desired Qualifications
10+ years of AML financial crimes experience with international geographic and varied product risk in the context of Wholesale customer types and lines of business
5+ years of financial crimes analytics experience with the assessment of customer transactional usage
Experience developing and improving customer transactional usage review processes and reporting
Leadership skills and experience focused on: risk decisions, collaboration and partnership; thought leadership, purpose driven and creative problem solving; teaching and coaching; servant leadership
Ability to interact with all levels of an organization, including senior leadership/management
Demonstrated success at developing risk solutions in the context of portfolio reviews and decision-centric risk baselines
As a senior leader, demonstrated successful management of complex, matrixed decision-centric operational group(s) that include diverse geographic presence
Experience with assessing issues, making quick decisions, implementing solutions, and influencing change
Ability to provide strong customer service while balancing the needs of clients, shareholders, and team members
Knowledge and understanding of operational initiatives and strategies development
Demonstrated core competencies in Leadership, Business Acumen in Wholesale Banking and Risk Management, Change Management, Project Management, and Process Improvement

Job Expectations
