Metrology Test Technician
(Contract Position)
Sigma Design is a product development, engineering, and manufacturing firm. Based out of the Pacific Northwest, we offer innovative concept through production services to diverse clients around the globe. We are currently looking for a Metrology Test Technician to join our team in Kirkland, WA This position is a contract with an expected duration of 9 months.

Salary: $29.00 - 40.00/hour DOE
Primary Function:
The Test Technician is responsible for (1) running defined tests in a manufacturing environment, (2) making observations to assist in root cause analysis of failures and defects and (3) performing measurement activities using an OMM, CMM or other measurement equipment as needed to support client deliverables. Communicates directly with the client regarding the status of test and measurment results. Occasionally required to assemble and disassemble to support operational objectives.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

Run various metrology tools and SW packages, perform data analysis and generate reports for the customer.

Develop an in-depth technical understanding of new and existing metrology equipment and processes across the site.

Document and implement test processes to meet the demands of a prototyping assembly line.

Work closely with engineers to develop and implement test procedures leveraging internally built test tools.

Perform rework, repair, upgrades on prototypes.

Document the appropriate data from measurements and/or test results in multiple formats, such as log files, screenshots, photo, video, sound clips or physical samples.

Provide feedback to Test Engineers for any test discrepancies, changes or suggested improvements.

Provide feedback to Quality Engineers for any measurement discrepancies, changes or suggested improvements.

Observe DUT (Device under Test) behavior and provide the first pass evaluation of test results with predetermined parameters and other test metrics.

Experience or familiarity with multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and other typical electronic lab equipment a plus.

Occasionally perform processes to complete mechanical and electrical assemblies, subassemblies, using common hand tools and electronic lab tooling.
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)

High school diploma or GED is required; 2-3 year post-secondary diploma in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) field is highly desirable.

Minimum of 2+ years of recent and relevant work experience in a product development or manufacturing test environment.

CMM, OMM experience required. 3D point cloud SW (Polyworks, Smart Porfile, etc...) strongly desired.

Knowledge of GD&T preferred.

Knowledge of Python scripting preferred.

Experience developing measurement procedures.

Excellent communication skills in English, both in written and oral.

Hands-on skills and mechanical aptitude skills.

Ability to understand, comprehend and provide feedback on written test plans and other documentation.

Must be technologically savvy for prototyping environments in a variety of operating systems.

Proficiency with Windows, MS Office (Excel, Word, & Outlook), attention to detail, organized with critical thinking skills.

Ability to troubleshoot & fix test systems.

Willingness to work a compressed work week. Overtime may be required.

Work Environment:
Standard lab/production environment. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
