About the Role:
Is a technical expert in firewall and network engineering for our Cloud Infrastructure and related Cloud applications and services part of the Customer Experience Team. Applies engineering principles, procedures and techniques to perform firewall and network engineering assignments related to onboarding of customers and support of Cloud products and their underlying systems. Works closely with other engineering and operations disciplines to ensure inter-disciplinary communication and coordination. Provides technical guidance, leadership and training and documentation. Ultimately responsible for activities related to large and critical customer deployments and solutions. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary decisions and need to be self-sufficient.
The scope of work includes, but is not limited to:
Serves as hands-on technical expert and assumes additional responsibilities as needed to develop customer solutions/integrations, solve firewall/networking engineering deployment problems, with the focus of improving new customer's onboarding processes.
Produce build and implementation documentation for configuration of firewall, network, and switches.
Oversee and coordinate customer deployment and facilitate migration of customers into our Cloud Infrastructure.
Provides technical firewall/networking engineering support and training for internal groups and customers.
Provide Cloud Infrastructure conceptual design assistance and provide technical guidance to Sales and Global Solution Architects.
Lead large Customer solution design and develop implementation plans for our cloud infrastructure.
Assist cross functional teams in troubleshooting and problem identification.
Evaluate and analyze systems, performance, issues and metrics in order to provide recommendations for service improvements.
Assist with security and audit activities related to Cloud infrastructure.
Senior Escalation support for Operations.
Involved in pre-sales process to help design and approve customer specific solutions
Ensure that assigned infrastructure to a client site is configured, installed, tested and operational and that software is installed and configured according to solution requirements.
Provide Firewall/Networking support to clients during on-boarding and migration which includes provisioning, monitoring, implementation, troubleshooting and support for Networking operations and related infrastructure.
Take full ownership for managing the incident to resolution when escalated within the service level conditions.
Perform senior level firewall and network troubleshooting and work with other teas, to solve concurrent issues.
Document customer solutions, and perform the necessary training and hand-over procedures when required.
Documentation skills to include creating and updating detailed environment design, installation, and support documentation.
Strong operating systems scripting skills. (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Perl)
Experience in automating system and application builds (Ansible, puppet, chef, salt) is highly preferred.
Experience working with web service based api’s (REST, SOAP) is required.
Experience working in a Cloud or Hosting environments
Linux/Unix experience essential - hands-on experience and knowledge of system internals.
Highly experienced in Cisco WAN/LAN routing and switching (Cisco Nexus)
Highly experienced in firewall and application delivery controllers (F5, ASA, ACE)
Highly experienced in security & VPN solutions (IPSEC, VTI, DMVPN)
Network skills including the following technologies and protocols: 10/40/100Gbps switched Ethernet, VPC, VXLAN/ACI, TCP/IP, BGP is required.
SDN (software defined networking) experience preferred.
Experience in a virtualized environment preferred (preferably VMware)
Understanding of PCI & SSAE certification requirements.
CCIE certification preferred
Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent 10+ years of experience.
