The City of Greenville's Aquatics and Fitness Center is seeking a motivated and knowledgeable intern to join their team and gain valuable hands-on work experience.

This is an unpaid volunteer internship position, expected to work approximately 40 hours per week. Selected applicants should have a flexible schedule. College/University internship policies may require a minimum amount of hours in a semester in order to earn college credits. Please see your academic advisor or internship coordinator at your school for more information about internship requirements. If selected, applicants must show proof of student status and course of study.

Examples of Duties
This position's primary responsibilities are to conduct fitness consultations, weight and cardiovascular orientations, perform blood pressure, body fat and BMI screenings; conduct Wellness orientations for new City and Utilities employees; assist in youth and adult programming activities and to assist with the development and implementation of Wellness programs.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university majoring in Recreational Studies, Exercise Sciences or closely related field to qualify for this position; and
  • Must have successfully completed a minimum of four semesters and be in good academic standing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of conducting blood pressure checks, 3-site skin fold body fat screenings; skilled in application and proper technique of cardiovascular and weight equipment to include free weights and fundamentals in Exercise Instruction.

Current CPR certification must be obtained by student prior to internship.

Requires strong interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills and the ability to work independently to develop and implement programs.

Selection Procedure:
