The Mid-Level Network Engineer position will provide network support and project rollout support for the Global IT function of HID.
Mid-Level Network Engineer will apply experience and skill to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient operations of the network operating environments, voice services, within physical and virtual environments, public and hybrid cloud, in a global enterprise and as a member of a global team.
The role is key to the efficient management of global network infrastructure across the company. Based in Austin, Texas, this position reports into the Infrastructure Director, Information Technology
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
To provide HID Global IT with technical support for the global network environment including assessment and implementation of new capabilities, upgrades etc.
This person will be a contributing member of the Global IT Infrastructure team and will report to the Network team lead.
Assist in the configuration of routers, firewalls, load balancers, and VoIP equipment to support business-critical communications capabilities.
Troubleshoot and remediate errors/failures related to network, voice services, etc. Perform root cause analysis for major faults.
Provide support and expertise to other systems and network engineers and administrators, and act as a backup or “secondary” for other areas of responsibility
Write scripts, playbooks, configuration state files, etc., to automate processes, reporting and remediation, using approved languages and automation processes and tools
Create and maintain documentation relating to the job function and the environment: architecture, integrations, code, and application settings. Complete knowledge transfer within the team. Mentor other team members.
Participate in disaster recovery planning, backup and recovery testing, and related activities.
Ensure security and compliance of the systems, processes and solutions with internal standards, industry compliance standards and best practices.
Analyze and report accurately and regularly on performance, gaps, risks, failures, efficiencies, improvements, coverage, licensing, etc.
Interact with technical and non-technical staff from various business units to assess needs, communicate options, and design and implement suitable solutions.
Participate in regular on-call duty and perform after hours work as needed to support the business. Be a part of on-call rotation once a month to support network infrastructure over the weekend.

CCNA is expected for this mid-level role
Education and/or Experience
5+ years of experience in infrastructure design, implementation, management and support
Strong experience and troubleshooting with protocol like EIGRP, BGP and SSL and IPsec VPN technologies.
Experience designing, implementing, and testing High Availability (HA) solutions
Experience with Cisco UC, particularly with IOS based voice gateways, a plus.
Strong experience securing and monitoring network devices
Current experience with Network devices like Fortigate firewalls managed using FortiManager, Cisco (router, switches and wireless controllers, WAPs), load balancers (F5 LTM)
Experience working with Cisco UCS, and cloud connections
Proficient with tools to collect network statistic utilizing protocols (SNMP, NetFlow, etc )
Expert with implementing and supporting QoS.
ISP management and escalation experience
Advanced troubleshooting in a complex environment with various technologies, data center.
Hands-on experience with high performance network and network optimization in highly available, large-scale, multisite, international environments
Ability to effectively communicate in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.

Able to work daily in the HID Global Corporate office located in Austin, TX during normal business hours
Ability and willingness to work weekends and/or off hours as needed and to participate in a regular on-call rotation, scheduled maintenance activities, to collaborate closely with team members and customers in the Americas, in EMEA, and APAC.
Able to acquire and maintain a US Government Security Clearance, subject to renewal every 5 years.
Occasional travel and fieldwork including international travel may be required. Therefore, employee must possess or be able to acquire a valid passport.
