The Operations Engineer I owns and performs all Application Engineering duties in support of Request for Service projects and hardening production environments. Main duties include installation, configuration, troubleshooting of application servers (Microsoft Dynamics AX, ConnectShip, SSRS) and web servers (DAX Services, Enterprise Portal).
Resolves issues escalated from users of Dynamics AX, ConnectShip, SSRS
Diagnose and resolve technical problems at the individual and system levels
Drive root cause analysis for critical incidents
Analyze, identify, document, and deploy application monitoring requirements
Application analysis, planning, and deployment
Understand business requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
Evaluate applications and application functions to determine if they fulfill operation requirements
Analyze existing and new applications to identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and availability
Apply knowledge and experience to improve application support processes
Must be available to work extended hours as necessary
Works on undocumented incidents
Develops tools/processes to speed up incident resolution
Performs proactive and reactive problem management
Performs complex changes
Maintain global view and an active participating role in all portfolio and operation activities
Active participation in portfolio delivery model including all changes and releases
Document, develop, and transition critical validation paths for operational support
Develop knowledge of portfolios and transfer to operations
Provide view of all operational aspects of the applications within the global portfolios, i.e., monitoring dashboards, report generation, and etc.
Guardians of all global applications on going availability, stability, growth, and enhancements)
Experience supporting and maintaining one or more of the following applications:
IIS 6 and 7
Windows 2003, 2008, and 2012
Knowledge of SQL/Oracle or other query language
PRTG and/or Nagios Monitoring Solutions
2-3 years infrastructure and Operations experiences
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Experience troubleshooting system/application and TCP/IP problems
Experience providing application support in a large company
Technical writing documentation
Infrastructure Performance Tuning
Microsoft Dynamics AX experience is a plus
Experience with other Microsoft tools (SSRS, SSAS)
Experience with MS SQL Server database (2005 or higher)
Knowledge of current principles, practices and techniques of systems analysis.
Knowledge of technical developments and trends in application analysis
Knowledge of technical and business writing.
Ability to diagnose application problems quickly.
Ability to apply technological concepts and tools within established periods.
Ability to prepare documentation, charts, and graphs pertinent to work assignments.
Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely in understandable form, both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the business community, vendors, customers, and coworkers.
