The Survey Research Center at Penn State is currently looking to hire field research staff to conduct and code CLASS observations in first and second grade classrooms in Greensboro, North Carolina. Successful candidates will be K-3 C.L.A.S.S./Teachstone certified and be available to work from August through May. Hours worked per week will vary based on time of year, with the busiest times being in September/October and April/May. Applicants should be willing to travel locally and have regular and reliable transportation and regular and reliable access to telephone service.
Candidates must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position with reasonable accommodations: lift and carry 10 - 15 pounds of equipment and materials and climb a flight of stairs while carrying equipment with or without accommodation. Must hold K-3 CLASS observer certification; have research experience or experience working with elementary-aged children; have strong reading and verbal skills and have basic experience with computer and Internet technology. Must be capable of establishing and maintaining a good rapport with school personnel; be self-motivated, reliable, organized, and detail-oriented; have the ability to keep detailed records of all work activities and administrative tasks; and obtain required clearances.
