This position will provide support to the Banking, Operations, Commerce and Global Risk Division. The role requires an individual who can successfully manage multiple areas of responsibility and deadlines within the Division. The paralegal will perform research and provide support to supervising attorneys in providing legal advice with respect to commercial deposits products, treasury management services and payment systems. Specifically, the paralegal’s responsibilities will include (i) reviewing and providing advice related to a variety of contracts and other documentation including, account opening documents, corporate resolutions, signature cards, treasury management documents, assignment agreements, and confidentiality agreements; (ii) reviewing and preparing responses for requests for proposals for banking services; (iii) handling a variety of legal matters related to deposit accounts, including pre-litigation account disputes, account opening/closure issues, ownership changes, and access and authorization issues; (iv) researching federal, state, and/or international laws and regulations related to banking and deposits; and (v) reviewing, analyzing and commenting upon marketing and other customer facing communications.

In addition, this position requires someone who can research and resolve issues and matters which involve the most substantial legal or factual complexity, through detailed research and/or examination of documentation and/or factual investigation. Produce clear and concise written materials that can be submitted to the client/customer with minimal revision or review by an attorney. Provide support to a specialized practice or functional area within the Law Department requiring a high degree of analytical, written and oral communication and organizational skills. Develop relationships with business units and be proactive in participating in strategic efforts of client while identifying and addressing issues.

Required Qualifications

3+ years of paralegal experience

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced proficiency with Westlaw and other relevant online research tools
  • Ability to proactively identify matters requiring attention, to take ownership of matters and drive toward effective solutions, to seek attorney approval when necessary, and to cultivate the trust and confidence of lawyer and non-lawyer team members
  • Experience with legal issues related to UCC articles 3, 4 and 4A, federal banking regulations, Regulation CC, FDIC regulations, and NACHA operating rules is beneficial
  • Able to handle a significant caseload with minimal supervision, and be comfortable fielding calls from clients and outside counsel and problem-solving

Paralegal certification may be required in some states
