Job Description
As a member of the Information Technology (IT) team, the Sr Manager of Data Engineering solutions is critical in providing leadership with solution designs and implementation pathways for the current and future data engineering ecosystems You will join a tight knit group of key contributors within the Data Engineering team; who are actively working together to achieve aggressive goals and meet timelines to drive the business forward.
Responsibilities
Be the point person to interface with business teams to translate analytic business requirements into architecture and data designs to support business outcomes
Establish best practices for naming, governing, managing, modeling, cleansing, transforming, moving, storing, and searching data within the new data platform
Lead team through all data technology solution development phases by ensuring team understands and adheres to department methodology, policies, standards, and controls
Manage team of Data Architects and Data Modelers to enable agile delivery of data requests
Provide strategic as well as tactical oversight of the build features and functionalities for the SKX Data platform
Develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of cross system integration, interactions and relationships in order to develop an enterprise view of Skecher’s data needs by applying data driven approach in translating the specific business outcomes
Design, coordinate and execute Proof of Concepts(POC), prototypes or pilots to provide validation on specific scenarios and create development plans
Collaborate on data models with Data Engineers and Insights teams to provide complete end-to-end-solutions
Maintain a corporate repository of all data architecture artifacts and procedures and works with the data engineering team to develop data curation pipelines that meets functional and nonfunctional requirements
Coordinate with one or more business analytic teams to to translate analytic business requirements into architecture and data designs, additionally he/she needs to ensure the data ingestion and curation pipelines are built to meet the business and data quality expectations
Collaborate with all areas of data management as lead to ensure patterns, decisions, and tooling is implemented in accordance with enterprise standards
Stay abreast on industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices with the intent of applying it to Skecher’s data landscape
Qualifications
Good understanding of all aspects of data architectures, data dictionaries, and data lineages in a large-scale enterprise environment
Deep knowledge of traditional data warehousing (models, practices, and processes), cloud-based data warehouses, data lakes, and data streaming
Exceptional data solution design abilities, including high-scale ETL/ELT pipelines including leveraging python
Hands-on experience architecting complex solutions with Data Lakes using stream based technologies or event event-driven architectures (Kinesis, Kafka)
Strong bias for execution and not afraid to make critical decisions. Ability to get your hands dirty and dig into detail when needed
Ability to clearly communicate complex issues to leadership and stakeholder
Demonstrable experience with distributed data warehousing and data processing systems such as Redshift or Snowflake
Demonstrated ability to think critically and provide strategic insight and analysis to solve problems and make improvements
Proven track record of sharing outcomes through written communication, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
Excellent ability to elicit, gather, and manage requirements in an Agile delivery environment
Advanced knowledge of software lifecycles, testing automation and applicability to Secure SDLC
Expert with batch processing pipelines for establishing warehouse models and have dabbled in stream analytics with the help of tools like Talend for data prep and processing
Experience managing third-party partners to implement data solutions to support business requirements
Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal, written, presentation) across all levels of the organization. Ability to translate ambiguous concepts into tangible ideas and to follow it up with working solutions
