SCAD Savannah seeks a full-time costume shop manager for its Savannah location.
In this role, you will become an integral part of the SCAD School of Entertainment Arts as you schedule, supervise, and train students in the costume shop at Crites Hall and performance venues such as Arnold Hall, Hamilton Hall, the Mondanaro Theater, and the Trustees Theater. Under the supervision of the chair of production design and themed entertainment design, you will execute faculty- and student-designed productions for the School of Entertainment Arts production season and other special projects as they arise. You will provide individualized attention, hands-on feedback, and support for the preparation of students’ professional careers. As costume shop manager, you will also help increase the high quality of student film, television, themed entertainment, and theatrical work produced by the School of Entertainment Arts.
The successful candidate exhibits a spirit of excellence and cooperation in team settings and has experience managing a staff in either a professional or academic costume shop. Knowledge of costume shop maintenance and inventory is vital, as is experience coordinating wardrobe needs for professional productions. The candidate should also have advanced skills in costume construction, including exceptional skill in draping, tailoring, costume crafts, patterning, and millinery.
- Bachelor’s degree in costume design, fashion, fiber, textiles, or a related discipline
- Minimum of five years relevant professional experience
- Advanced knowledge of safe working practices including O.S.H.A regulations.
