The Microsoft Devices Operations (MDO) group is looking for a Senior Sourcing Engineer for Mechanical Components. In this role you will lead supplier relationships, including the management and negotiation of Product Supply Agreements and related contractual executions. An ideal candidate will have high ambition to grow with Microsoft and MDO.
We are seeking an individual that has demonstrated the ability to succeed in a high demand and ultra-high stress environment. The ability to successfully navigate through ambiguities/difficult obstacles through facts, evaluation of alternatives, open-mindedness, thought-through strategy, and superior communications to lead cross-functional organizations through sourcing activities will be required. The candidate for this role will have the ability to both quantify and qualify situations, making the most of what is provided.

Develop and execute a market leading sourcing strategy in the Mechnical Engineering category via full market knowledge, supplier rationalization, predictable and industry leading commodity pricing plan, and total cost of ownership (TCO) cost modeling through transparent supplier relationship management.

Secure components and/or services in the assigned category that will provide competitive advantage in both technology and cost for Microsoft.

Deliver most aggressive and closest-to-the-pin costing and projections, with the ability to standup to the most aggressive alternatives, doubts, and scrutiny.

Drive change management to continuously improve efficiency and performances via repeatable processes, people growth, and elimination of work duplication.

Business owner of the category and component supplier relationships, including the management and negotiation of contractual agreements and related negotiations and executions.

Develop supplier capabilities and drive roadmap visibility across Microsoft hardware businesses.

Achieve established commitments on total cost results, supply, quality and compliance adherence, and on-time delivery.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 4+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles

OR Master's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 3+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles

OR equivalent experience.

Deep industry knowledge relevant for Mechanical components in the consumer electronics industry

Experience in delivering best in class total cost of ownership (TCO), continuity of supply (COS), and in building partnerships
Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Engineering, with a preference for Mechanical Engineering

Expertise in financial statement analysis to derive should-cost models and cost competitiveness/financial strengths of suppliers before RFx is conducted.

Combination of business and technical knowledge base, particularly for assigned categories.

Project/timeline (Consumer Electronics Integrated Project Management) adherence experiences.

Ability to articulate points of view with executive management but execute plans when directed

Proficient in mastering Microsoft systems and processes, and adept at synthesizing diverse perspectives to drive effective action and execution.

Ability to communicate and think strategically to support ideology with facts.
Sourcing Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
