Network Administrator job description

Our Managed IT Services company is looking for an Network Engineer. We need a hands-on professional who enjoys rolling up his or her sleeves and working with the team to achieve goals, provide premier support, eliminate security risks and increase client satisfaction. The successful candidate will be an IT expert and knowledgeable in all level 2 support of IT infrastructure, and IT support. You will be responsible providing level 2 support for Stryker clients that include desktop and server support. You will report directly to our Manager of IT. A successful Network Engineer must possess exceptional problem-solving skills. Additionally, he or she must possess excellent interpersonal skills as well as an abundance of patience and must be extremely organized and able to juggle multiple projects at once. The job entails a deep understanding of common software and systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Active Directory 2012 R2/2016/2019
  • including DNS, DHCP, print, Group Policies and DFS services
  • Manage and provision virtual servers (VMWare ESX) – (Hyper-V)
  • Office 365 Exchange online
  • Enterprise Backup (Veeam/Altaro/Crashplan)
  • Enterprise Network and Application Monitoring (Solarwinds)
  • Enterprise Anti-Virus/Malware/spyware
  • Recommend system and process modifications to reduce user problems and improve customer service
  • Participate in security and application troubleshooting and incident problem resolutions with other infrastructure teams such as Help Desk and Applications Support
  • Must have reliable transportation to be able to travel between campuses as needed

Preferred Networking Skills:

  • Netgear/Ubiquiti Switches
  • Controller and Controlerless wireless networks (Ubiquiti)
  • SOPHOS/WatchGuard Firewalls
  • VLANS, Network Routing, MPLS, BGP

Performs day-to-day tasks such as onsite and remote system maintenance. Help Desk support, computer and server builds, and all related IT support.

Tests and monitors software, hardware, and peripheral equipment to evaluate the use, effectiveness, and adequacy of product for the end user

Provides guidance, information and expert advice to management or other groups on technical, systems, or process-related topics in written form, e-mail, or in person

Uses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with policies, procedures, or standards

Observes, receives, and otherwise obtains information from all relevant sources in order to keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to the position.

Solid customer service, telephone, verbal, listening, and written communication skills required

Ability to be flexible to participate in an On-Call rotation

Proven technical experience with desktop operating systems, computing hardware, configuration and operation of peripherals

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; a viable combination of experience and education will be considered.

MINIMUM RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have 3 to 5 years’ experience in a related field.

  • Ability to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $65,000.00 /year
