The Bruker Sepsityper/Clinical Impact Specialist (SCIA) is a hybrid role in the Bruker Microbiology and Diagnostic (M&D) Division encompassing both applications and sales. The primary focus, our Sepsityper Kit on the Bruker MALDI Biotyper, is a revolutionary product which uses mass spectrometry to produce rapid, accurate and cost-effective microorganism identifications direct from a blood culture sample. This unique approach is a critical component in the detection and treatment of sepsis. The SCIA is responsible for supporting our Sepsityper product by serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the sepsis market, technical aspects of our product, competitive options, etc. and communicating those in high level sales presentations, while supporting Regional Sales Managers and the National Accounts Manager. This position will also train customers on the “hands on” pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical Sepsityper process in the Laboratory. The position will be 50% sales and 50% applications work.
Support the Bruker US, Canadian and LATAM Sales Team in meetings, presentations and implementation of the Bruker Sepsityper product: both RUO and IVD.
Conduct on-site and factory-based application trainings for new and current customers for Sepsityper all other MALDI Biotyper protocols where required.
Generate new sales leads for Bruker’s products and services in the Clinical market by educating potential customers on all microbiology products with a focus on Sepsityper.
Communicate and develop strong relationships with the field sales teams to relay pertinent information regarding current and future customers. This information can include but is not limited to pricing, product development suggestions, and customer support satisfaction.
Develop a plan to successfully execute and implement a strategy to fulfill customer needs. The success of this plan will be monitored by both the Director of MBT and the MAS Manager via quarterly tracking.
Educate and certify new MAS, sales teams, and any internal colleague that may need training.
Work with and facilitate Customers, Bruker Marketing and Product Management support for Sepsityper research studies and white papers.
Plan and execute local workshops, WebEx lectures and user meetings on a cycle determined by Sales management. Actively participate in the planning and execution of local, regional and national shows related to leading Sepsityper product adoption.
Provide monthly lead generations and customer training metrics to the Sales and MAS Managers.
Train new customers on MALDI Biotyper operations as needed.

Deep and focused knowledge of the clinical, microbiology laboratory, Sepsis disease state and clinical protocols and procedures to treat and defeat it.
Proven ability to promote company products and services to a variety of prospects and customers and secure sales commitments.
Diagnostics Sales and or Applications experience required. Microbiology experience preferred.
Strong verbal, written, and technical presentation skills, including MS Office with advanced Excel applications proficiency.
Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple tasks and deliverables.
Must be self-motivated and willing to take ownership of projects assigned by the management team.
Ability to travel on a routine basis and maintain a current Passport/ VISA as required for international travel. Occasional weekend travel will be required. The MAS must plan and execute individual travel per company travel guidelines and within expense budget objectives
Able to manipulate small hand tools (pipettors for example).
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology preferred; Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry with focus on Microbiology or Cell Biology considered
Sales educational programs such as “Spin Selling, Miller Heiman, Challenger Sales,” etc.
Strong knowledge of clinical microbiology
Business development and relationship management skills
Ability to work in a flexible, fast-paced environment
MS Office with advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Medical Technologist background a plus. Candidate must be certified, by Bruker, on the MALDI Biotyper CA System before installing or training customers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
Travel schedule will vary and will depend on sales activities and instrument annual goals. Each installation and training will take up to 4-5 days to complete.
Office days are required and scheduling will be at the MAS discretion
The installation process may require lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, and squatting and may also involve working in dusty and dirty laboratory environments.
