We are a dynamic Family Office managing approximately $1B in assets under management (AUM). Our operations span regional property management, local storage construction, land development, and family office accounting. With revenues exceeding $70M and a dedicated team of around 110 employees across 10 states, we are poised for significant growth and success.
Position: Senior Accountant
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Senior Accountant to join our team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for preparing, processing, reviewing, and evaluating financial transactions for an assigned portfolio of properties, and will work closely with the Controller on various corporate accounting monthly tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting Operations
- Supervise and control financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks.
- Reconcile account balances and bank statements, maintain the general ledger, and oversee month-end close procedures.
Financial Analysis
- Utilize strong analytical skills and accounting knowledge to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
Detailed Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze financial data to provide reports on financial status based on analysis results.
- Produce accurate and timely accounting reports.
- Collaborate with internal teams on accounting control procedures.
- Supervise Property Accountants and bookkeepers, planning their work and assigning tasks.
- Manage the accounting department’s month-end and year-end close processes for assigned communities.
- Organize and ensure accuracy in quarterly financial statements.
- Support and assist in audits and tax return preparation.
- Ensure all accounting procedures align with GAAP requirements.
Additional Skills and Responsibilities:
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with customers, vendors, and team members through effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Display high levels of internal and external customer service by responding to team member requests promptly.
- Take ownership of responsibilities and demonstrate a sense of urgency in addressing tasks.
- Proactively create and implement workable solutions for accounting challenges.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in accounting software packages (experience with Rent Manager highly desired).
- Strong understanding of financial accounting statements and business trends.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is a bonus.
