The Consumer Affairs Unit of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is looking for Assistant Bank Examiners to join our team. As an Assistant Bank Examiner, you will work as part of a team to analyze and communicate examination findings of financial institutions located within the 8th Federal Reserve District. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about banks and the banking industry as well as develop effective analytical and examination skills.

A successful candidate will work in St. Louis, Missouri, or Little Rock, Arkansas. Percentage of overnight travel for this position is 30%.

Evaluate the risk management functions of state member banks with regard to consumer compliance
Participate on consumer protection compliance or CRA examinations
Assess compliance with fair lending laws and regulations
Examine banks for compliance in deposit or loan operations areas
Document findings on examination through work papers and summary memoranda
Contribute to the creation of report of examination or public evaluation, to be issued to the bank
Participate on or lead HMDA and CRA data verification examinations
Develop a functional knowledge of the banking industry as well as the operations of a typical financial institution
A successful candidate for this position will have a varied skill set which could include a mixture of college coursework, a demonstrated ability to conduct analyses in a business environment, and a strong desire to excel and advance within the organization. Specific qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework or relevant experience in one or more of the following: finance, business administration, economics, data analytics, etc.
Well-developed and demonstrated critical thinking skills, including sound judgment, conflict resolution, and the ability to juggle tasks and priorities
Excellent organizational skills and ability to focus on details
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to both act as an enthusiastic team member and to efficiently and effectively lead teams
Excellent written communication skills
Comfortable with use of computer-based tools, including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
