Position: Controller, Final Mile

Job Description:
The Controller, Final Mile will be responsible for overseeing the entire administrative team in Weston, FL, including accounting, billing, settlements, claims and compliance. The day to day accounting operations of the organization include transaction accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, financial system maintenance and internal controls. This role will also manage the financial reporting and general ledger, accounts payable and receivable initiatives.

Core Responsibilities & Duties:
Lead staff in their routine operations and be present on-site to address questions and issues as they arise
Lead staff in the development of monthly U.S. GAAP Financial Statements, including the analysis and support of all general ledger balances
Ensure invoices are properly billed in accordance with client contracts
Ensure drivers are properly paid and all related deductions are properly calculated and excluded from these payments
Work closely with claims and compliance departments to ensure issues are identified and resolved on a timely basis, including escalating issues to corporate claims and compliance as needed
Ensure financial reporting compliance with key business partners
Stay current on all new accounting pronouncements for both U.S. GAAP, including the evaluation and implementation of new pronouncements applicable to the organization
Maintain an appropriate internal control environment for financial reporting. Evaluates the implication of possible internal control weaknesses and develops remediation plans
Coordinate and manage the external audit
Maintain a sound and efficient financial reporting process including journal entries, intercompany cost allocations, consolidations, etc.
Ensure staff is trained and operationally effective. Promotes staff development with the ability to motivate and promote cross functional collaboration
Additional assignments as requested by the VP Chief Accounting Office & Controller, Vice President, Finance or Corporate Assistant Controller

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in public accounting, corporate accounting and tax
Experience managing a large team (greater than 10 individuals)
Demonstrated knowledge of financial reporting systems and processes
Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. GAAP and an ability to interpret the impact of new accounting principles
Demonstrated excellence in verbal, presentation and written communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and influence business decisions
Strong leadership, team building and customer relationship skills
Qualifications - Preferred

Master’s degree in accounting/taxation or finance
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Big 4 accounting experience
Experience with Oracle
Experience managing a department (greater than 30 individuals)
