Full Job Description
Under the supervision of the Director of Student Health Services, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner diagnoses and manages acute, episodic and chronic psychiatric related conditions, and coordinates psychiatric care for UVU students, establishes and implements treatment plans, as well as order and interpret diagnostic, physical, psychological and laboratory testing.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in Nursing and APRN License for the State of Utah, Controlled Substance License for the State of Utah, and NPI number.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Provides appropriate ongoing care and follow up care as needed.
Knowledge of psychological testing, determining need and referring when appropriate.
Knowledge of psychiatric medications and the management of in patent treatment.
Complies with all HIPAA privacy rules and maintains appropriate documentation standards.
Skills in diagnosing psychiatric related conditions based on current DSM-V criteria.
Skills in interpreting diagnostic conclusions and determine appropriate treatment strategies.
Skills in coordinating care with other staff members when appropriate.
Ability to prescribe pharmacological agents and non-pharmacological therapies.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing to a diverse population.
Possess ability to examine/interview patient using history taking and psychiatric assessment skills.
Ability to act as a resource within SHS and Student Life in area of specialty.
Maintains continuing education credits.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master’s degree in Nursing, plus one year of full-time experience in a psychiatric clinical setting.
Occasional standing, walking, frequent sitting, listening and talking.

You may be eligible for a 3 credit hour or 1 class tuition waiver after 6 consecutive months of employment and a minimum of 475 hours worked. Dependents do not qualify for a waiver.
Pay Range $55 - $65
