The Mobile Food Pantry Coordinator will report to the Director of Hunger Services. This is a full-time position. Duties will include but are not limited to: Coordinating all aspects of the Mobile Food Pantry program which include scheduling and organizing Mobile Food Pantry events at locations throughout Newport County, administrative work, food inventory, stocking, loading/unloading truck, MFP set-up/breakdown, etc. Additional responsibilities for this position will include receiving donations/deliveries, pick-ups, shopping at local merchants for pantry product, stocking, sorting, light cleaning, box recycling, and assisting with other aspects of Hunger Services programs on an as needed basis.
The Mobile Food Pantry Coordinator will interact with clients, staff, volunteers and other community organizations. It is essential that the candidate be empathetic, courteous, highly organized, professional, meticulous with detail and protocol. As a member of a small staff that relies heavily on teamwork, it is also necessary that the Mobile Food Pantry Coordinator has a positive attitude, a respectful demeanor, a strong sense of humor, and the ability to work independently. This position requires strenuous physical exertion at times, the ability to lift, carry, climb in/out of van/truck and driving the Center van and MFP truck. A regular, valid driver’s license is required, along with a good driving record.
Job responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the Mobile Food Pantry Program
- Drive the Food 2 Friends van and Mobile Food Pantry truck when necessary
- Work as a team member with MLK Center staff and particularly the Hunger Services staff
- Participate in all facets of hunger services as needed
- Phone work, data entry
- General duties as needed
- Work 9:30am-12:30pm the first Saturday of each month covering the Feed-A-Friend Food Pantry located at the Martin Luther King Community Center
Qualifications:
- Able to perform rigorous physical duties: heavy lifting, carrying, moving items, climbing in/out of box truck and van, etc.
- Possess strong communication skills
- Possess strong organizational skills
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record; willingness to obtain a medical certificate

Work hours: The MLK Community Center is open Monday-Friday and the first Saturday of each month. Mobile Food Pantry Coordinator schedule will be determined prior to hire with input from the successful candidate and senior staff.
