High School Diploma or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Associates or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business equivalent strongly preferred.

Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Accounting Associate. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation’s fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Accounting Associate for Customer Billing, Accounts Payable or Travel and Expense Management.
Processes inter-divisional invoices, vendor invoices, and internal check requests for payment according to the purchase order guidelines and/or internal company policies
Works with vendors and purchasing department personnel to resolve payment issues and ensure a streamlined and efficient accounts payable process from purchase order inception to vendor payment
Completes accurate and compliant contract invoices for submission to the customer in accordance with internal policies and procedure
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Good knowledge of accounting practices including US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Good knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Sarbanes-Oxley Act preferred
Good financial analysis skills
Considerable computer skills including knowledge of accounting software applications such as MS Excel, Hyperion Essbase, Oracle
General knowledge of financial report preparation
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to organize and prioritize
