MBA is a design-build, project management, and general construction company with company headquarters in Magnolia, Texas, just a few miles north of Houston. We are engaged in the engineering, design, and construction of buildings and process systems in the renewable energy industry (wind and solar), the manufacturing, mining, and chemical industries, the rail and trucking industries, and the oil & gas industries including upstream, midstream, and downstream,
MBA is a preferred contractor for the major EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) companies that are engaged in large-scale projects in the same industries. We also are the largest Design-Build contractor of turn-key Salt Water Disposal Systems (“SWD’s”), waste management systems, and tank batteries for the oil and gas industries in Texas, North Dakota, and New Mexico.
DESIGN-BUILD ESTIMATOR FOR THE STRUCTURES DIVISION
- Most of our projects are Design-Build and many of the projects are located in remote areas on Wind farms and Solar farms. MBA seeks a Construction Estimator that has experience in constructing or estimating Pre-Fabricated Metal Buildings for Design/Build Projects in size from $1.2 million to $6 million. Typically, we estimate our costs from a conceptual design with a set of specifications or a wish list from our customer, rather than from a prepared formal book of specifications that normally is sent out to numerous subcontractors.
- The Design-Build Estimator must familiarize himself/herself with the local customs, building regulations, construction practices, applicable taxes and costs during the estimating phase and be able to apply that knowledge to the estimate without necessarily having a hard-bid on many or most of the subcontracting trades.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare estimates from design-build and conceptual drawings.
- Read and understand contract documents, plans, specifications and addenda.
- Perform quantity take-offs, organize and price information.
- Solicit bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers as applicable and as available.
- Research local customs, costs, and building code and apply such to the bid.
- Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers to clarify pricing information.
