Zuber Lawler & Del Duca LLP is looking to hire an experienced legal assistant to support several busy litigation attorneys in our Firm’s Downtown Chicago office. The position requires experience with preparing and filing litigation documents and briefs as well as assisting with general office tasks including calendaring, file organization and client communications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Litigation Assistant provides a range of clerical, administrative and specialized support services to between three and five designated attorneys while also providing back-up and overflow assistance to other attorneys and non-attorney staff on an as-needed basis. Among the position’s principal duties and responsibilities are the following:

Prepare, edit, transmit and file correspondence, emails, motions, briefs, spreadsheets and other documents under the general direction of one or more Firm attorneys;
Assist with the maintenance of attorney calendars by planning and helping to schedule conferences, teleconferences, depositions, and travel; recording and monitoring court appearance dates, pleadings, and filing requirements;
Document and input attorney billable time and reimbursable expenses;
Maintain client confidence by keeping client/attorney information confidential;
Provide historical reference by developing and utilizing filing and retrieval systems; recording meeting discussions;
Meet and greet guests;
Provide backup to reception; answer phones, direct calls, take messages; and
Perform such other tasks and responsibilities as shall be assigned from time to time.
Competencies and Qualifications

Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a comparable position, preferably in a private law firm;
Ability to handle court filings in all federal and Illinois state courts;
Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures;
Advanced knowledge in MS Office suite;
Strong word processing skills, including heavy formatting, redlining and macro use;
Proficiency with scheduling and calendaring;
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines;
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
Excellent grammar and proofreading skills;
Ability to effectively and professionally communicate and interact with clients, attorneys, staff and court personnel;
Some overtime work occasionally required; and
Solid work ethic and a genuine team player.
