The Furman University Libraries announce a two-year visiting position to begin August 1, 2018 (or as soon as possible thereafter). The Visiting Assistant Librarian of Science Outreach will join the library faculty as a member of the Outreach Services Division and will be the branch librarian in Furman’s Sanders Science Library.
The Visiting Assistant Librarian will collaborate closely with students, faculty, and staff in the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Earth & Environmental Sciences, Health Sciences, Neuroscience, Physics; interdisciplinary minors in Environmental Studies and Medicine, Health, & Culture; students on the pre-health majors track; and the new Master of Science in Community Engaged Medicine.
The Furman University Libraries consist of the James B. Duke Library, the Sanders Science Library and the Robert J. Maxwell Music Library. Library personnel include 13 library faculty and 13 paraprofessional staff.

Master of Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school.
Undergraduate degree in a natural science.
Knowledge of science resources.
Familiarity with library information technology.
Enthusiasm for teaching.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in science librarianship.
Graduate degree in a natural science.
Web authoring experience (SpringShare products preferred).
Experience with scientific research resources and reference management software.
Experience and knowledge of GIS.
Experience with outreach.
