The Systems Engineer 2 – Network Administrator’s role is responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of networking systems that support core organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware and software and associated operating systems. This role will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategy & Planning

  • Collaborate with IT Team and staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of networking systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Work with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and networking systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues.
  • Coordinate and track all networking infrastructure.
  • Establish and maintain network management and infrastructure standards.

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Design and deploy new network configurations and enhancements to existing networks.
  • Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
  • Conduct research on networking system products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure system-related products and services.

Operational Management

  • Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing networking systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
  • Collaborate with Information Security team to design and perform network system security audits, backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
  • Integrate network infrastructure into enterprise systems.
  • Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications with network infrastructure, where applicable.
  • Maintain documentation as it relates to infrastructure configuration, processes, and service records.
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of network Infrastructure with in-house computing systems.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
  • Monitor and test system performance using established system monitoring infrastructure; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • University degree in computer science or network engineering
  • Five years equivalent work experience with network administration
