Description: Professional clinical position providing counseling and education services, including outpatient substance abuse health treatment with adults and families. The counselor must possess clinical skills, individual and group therapy proficiency, and treatment planning and record keeping competency. This position does not supervise subordinate staff.
Qualifications: This position requires, at a minimum, a Bachelors Degree in the social health field, or shows an ongoing progression in this particular endeavor, and a minimum of two years experience in the substance abuse counseling field. Counselor must have knowledge of the processes of addiction and criminal behavior: treatment modalities and methods; psychopharmacology; DSMV; knowledge and skills in clinical assessment, clinical record keeping, and individual and group therapeutic counseling techniques. Must have some knowledge of the criminal justice system, and have the ability to function with minimal supervision.
Counselor must complete as State of Florida mandatory security screening
Transmit completed paper work to prescribed departments or agencies.
Design and implement treatment plans.
Facilitate educational groups and individual treatment sessions.
Administer urinalysis testing and make follow up reports as required.
Discharge clients from treatment at the appropriate time, complete all discharge and transmit to correct referral sources and the main office.
Collect and document client fees and transmit all receipts for the proper day. Document no shows of clients.
Complete monthly progress reports.
Complete group notes no later than the following day.
Correspond with respective referral agencies
Advocates with community resources as needed in order to ensure client’s needs are being met.
May function as a peer reviewer.
May attend and provide staff training as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
