The job’s main responsibility is to collaborate with biologists, bioinformaticians, and software engineers to design, develop and maintain bioinformatics applications and clinical information databases.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop, optimize, and maintain database infrastructure, and applications for data access
Work with statisticians in validation of new methods, including data collection and analysis algorithms
Provide bioinformatics support to R&D by analyzing and interpreting NGS data
Perform NGS data analysis and QA/QC platform
Provide trouble shooting and improvement for bioinformatics pipeline and applications for clinical tests

Position Requirements:
MS degree in bioinformatics, computer science, or related discipline is preferred, plus at least 5 years industrial experience is required
At least 2 years of experience in database design/development and administration
Experiences in using HPC and storage systems in cloud-based and on-premise computing environments
Experience in Illumina sequencing data and bioinformatics Next Generation Sequencing pipelines
Experience with database design and administration
Familiar with molecular biology, biological pathways, and genomics
Familiar with software versioning and industrial software development cycles
Proficiency with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or Microsoft SQL Server
Proficiency in the use of bioinformatics software, packages, and databases
Proficiency with Perl, Python, R, bash, C/C++, Java, and SQL in Linux/Unix environment
Ability to read and write a variety of structured/semi-structured formats (example: XML, JSON, CSV, TSV)
Understand the consumption and production of web services (example: REST, SOAP)
Working knowledge of code repository best practices and distributed version control
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work within a team, across-departments, and as an independent contributor, requiring minimal supervision

Location & Schedule:
This position is located at our Headquarters in Aliso Viejo, CA and regular schedule during normal business hours (8am - 5pm PST). All non-local candidates must be willing to commute or relocate for this position.
