Position Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Internal Auditor to join our internal audit team. Reporting to the Director of Internal Audit, the Internal Auditor will be responsible for conducting independent and objective audits to evaluate the effectiveness of our internal controls, risk management, and governance processes. Someone who has the ability to communicate and facilitate relationships across department leadership. This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct financial, operational, and compliance audits in accordance with the annual audit plan.
- Prepare audit workpapers and document audit findings, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and make recommendations for improvements.
- Evaluate the reliability and integrity of financial and operational information.
- Assist in the development and implementation of audit programs and procedures.
- Communicate audit findings and recommendations to the Director of Internal Audit and relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations to ensure timely and effective corrective actions.
- Stay updated with industry best practices and regulatory changes to ensure audits are relevant and effective.

- Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Mastery of Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Sage Intacct is a plus.
Decision Making:
- Determine the level of risk associated with identified weaknesses in controls.
- Reporting to upper management findings discovered during the audit.
- Determine which areas of the organization to audit based on risk, past findings, and management priorities.
Scope of Responsibility/Accountability:
- Ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
- Evaluating efficiency and effectiveness of operating controls.
- Conducted and completed special ad-hoc audits at the request of management.
- Report findings, conclusions, and recommendations to senior management.
- Provide unbiased, objective assessments of the organization’s operations.
Managing/Directing Work (if applicable):
- This role is not supervisory and no experience is required.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA a plus
- Minimum 3 years experience in audit or related field.
- Experience in the non-profit sector or government.
