Loudoun County Public Library (LCPL) is offering collaborative, detail-oriented candidates the opportunity to become a full-time Library Assistant at the Brambleton, Gum Spring, Middleburg, Rust (Leesburg) or Sterling Library. Location is subject to change based on operational needs.
As a member of an enthusiastic team, Library Assistants provide direct customer service in reference, reader’s advisory and circulation functions, as well as assist customers in the use of library resources and technologies.
Library Assistants plan and lead programs for children, teen and adult audiences.
Successful candidates will be passionate, creative team players with excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
Library Assistants serve a variety of roles. There are opportunities to work at the After Hours Teen Center, which is open 7-10 p.m. every Friday, and in our innovative Makerspaces, which feature equipment such as 3D printers, sewing machines, robotics, coding products and traditional crafting supplies.
All staff work in a collaborative environment with other staff to complete daily tasks, conduct programs and coordinate outreach.
LCPL provides services seven (7) days a week including Friday and Saturday evening. Work schedules vary and include weekends, evenings and holidays.

Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree
One (1) year prior experience providing direct customer service to the public strongly preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office products preferred.
Must possess strong multi-tasking, organizational and technology skills.
Requires ability to push or pull wheeled carts weighing up to 200 pounds.
Constant bending, reaching, walking and standing required.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds required.
Spanish/English bilingual skills preferred.
