We are currently looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join Thales in Melbourne, FL. The Software Engineering Manager will lead and ensure the software development team activities within the constraints provided by the manager and the Software Architects, ensuring the maintenance of software quality roadmaps and staffing on all software projects, and that critical resources are obtained and retained through mentoring and training.

Key Responsibilities:
Interface with all the stakeholders, within and outside the organization, to capture the needs for the team in terms of scope, budget and schedule.
Contribute to the development of the team’s product roadmap with all stakeholders.
Plan, coordinate and organize the team’s development project to completion;
Drive the development, integration and testing of the solution and ensure proper software technical documentation is generated for each phase of the development cycle.
Use prior project and technical management experience to lead and mentor the team.
Perform HR duties such as recruiting, training, setting individual objectives, conducting performance reviews and time keeping.
Hold regular meetings with the team to keep all team members informed.
Adopt state of the art processes and procedures as needed to improve the team productivity.
Develop and maintain metrics to measure productivity, progress, defect containment and others as required by management
Is responsible for leading approximately 20 highly skilled Software Engineers, Architects, and Devops Engineers.
The Leader is expected to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; developing employees; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University in Computer Science, Software Development, or related field with 7-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
7+ years of experience in designing, implementing and testing component based, objected oriented software.
Minimum 3+ years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience.
Able to lead diverse teams with different skillsets.
Previous experience with both integration and development.
Previous knowledge of Scrum and Agile development methodologies and associated management tools (SAP and JIRA)
Ability to create KPIs report on them and utilize these KPIs for managing change and improvements.
Very good knowledge of all phases of software development lifecycle: requirements analysis, technical design, implementation, code review, testing, and release
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Skills:
Experience in Unix/Linux/Android systems
Knowledge of Java, C#, BSPs and other embedded software as well as modern web technologies (Cloud, PaaS, SaaS)
