Downtown Boston consulting company, with a satellite office in Springfield, MA is looking for a smart & self-motivated DevOps Specialist. This is a newly created role to implement best practices for the application life cycle, including document control, testing, validation of code, as well as efficiency and quality monitoring.

This is a unique entry-level technical position, which will also encompass responsibility for the development of web-based applications, User Interfaces (UI) and User Experience (UX).

The candidate would work directly with our existing Information Technology Team and Client Relationship Managers to translate business goals and client requirements into stable web applications. Position is available in either our Boston or Springfield, MA locations.

The successful candidate would be involved with full stack development, the ability to use software tools such as; AJAX, JavaScript, SQL Server 2008 R2 or above, SQL, TFS (Team Foundation Server), Source Control, SSRS, Visual Studio 2008 or above, ASP.NET, Visual Basic (or C#), Microsoft IIS and Microsoft .NET framework2.0 or above would be highly desirable.

In addition, the candidate should possess the ability to gather, understand, and document requirements independently, build and test applications/websites using industry best practices and communicate effectively. This is a great position for a recent college graduate with some work experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in development of new applications utilizing Microsoft Visual Studio (VB.NET, ASP.NET, SQL)
  • Perform requirement gathering and analysis, application development for change requests, scripting, software debugging, source control, application testing preparation of implementation specifications and production application support.
  • Grow and expand your skills by supporting our existing codebase, troubleshooting problems, and working with developers to upgrade our systems.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization including Client Relationship Managers, current and prospective clients and within a team-based management style.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • BS Degree in CIS, MIS, or Information Systems
  • 2+ years’ experience in web design, .Net (VB/C#) coding, SQL, SSRS and experience with new software application and integration;
  • Experience with Microsoft IIS and Microsoft .NET framework2.0 or above
  • Strong business acumen and natural curiosity
  • Adaptability to solve hardware issues when necessary, is helpful
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and clients simultaneously
  • Self-motivation to jump in quickly with limited direction and learn by asking the right questions. Ability to come up with solutions quickly and effectively
  • Ability to thrive in an independent, collaborative environment.
