Under general direction of the Sr. Supply Chain Manager, Sherman + Reilly, this position is responsible to manage employees in the warehouse and/or production floor. This involves planning, controlling manpower cost, inventory accuracy, continuity of production flow according to schedules and the maintenance of quality, safety, efficiency, training and education of employees.
Supervises and assigns employees and crew to warehouse operations in line with schedules and factory order requirements. Realigns assignments as required.
Responsible for safety, quality, meeting schedules and efficiency of warehouse operations.
Attends, participates and leads department and group meetings for items such as general communication and resolving problems.
Responsible for department employee orientation, training and general understanding of company policies and goals.
Enforces and oversees the maintenance of department safety practices, work rules and good housekeeping habits.
Requisitions new and replacement personnel and participates in the continuing administration of labor contract provisions. Counsels personnel on work related questions and problems. Enforces and oversees the maintenance of company personnel and employee relations policies
Determines the need for and clears overtime schedules, manpower changes and other operational changes with supervisor. Allocates approved overtime to employees assuring equal distribution.
Coordinates with supervisory personnel of other departments to facilitate movement of materials and tools through the shop
Drives root cause corrective action problem solving initiatives
Focuses on continuous improvement implementation to achieve improved safety, quality, efficiency and cost.
Coordinate with Engineering on all new product introductions to assure material availability to support launch timelines.
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Engineering or a closely related discipline is required
Must have strong knowledge of manufacturing, distribution principles, practices and procedures
Strong technical skills related to Manufacturing are required
Experience & Skills
Minimum of three years’ experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment
Demonstrated application of Lean - Six Sigma methodologies to improving flow
Excellent communication skills
Problem solving and organization skills
Excellent partnering and team building skills
This position may exert up to 35 pounds of force occasionally with assistance, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently as well as the use of arm and/or leg controls with exertion greater than that of sedentary work. May also push, pull, lift, carry, grasp, finger or otherwise move objects.
