Job Summary - a concise overview of the job
The Senior Paralegal performs substantive legal work that requires knowledge and application of legal concepts in furtherance of Par Pharmaceutical’s business goals and objectives. With oversight, reviews and negotiates contracts, drafts documents, and conducts research as requested.
All incumbents are responsible for following applicable Division & Company policies and procedures.
Scope of Authority - span of control (work unit, site, department, division, etc.), monetary value of budget/spend authority ( capital, operating, etc.), P&L responsibility, etc.
Par Pharmaceutical, serving multiple locations (domestic and international)

Contract & Document Preparation, Review & Negotiation
§ Draft and review a wide array of standard contracts and other documents, including master service agreements, statements of work, confidentiality agreements, amendments, termination letters, instruments, and letters
§ Identify, assess and summarize significant contract terms for contract database and maintain contract database for Par Pharmaceutical related contracts
§ Identify and analyze critical contract dates and maintain legal tickler system for all Par Pharmaceutical related contracts
§ Negotiates with third parties on more routine contracts, amendments, and other documents with some oversight
Draft simple contracts, instruments, SOWs, termination letters, amendments, letters, and other documents as requested.
Conducts research on legal requirements related to business processes.
Works with attorneys to document the contract process including SOP documentation and contract templates.
Independently interacts with clients, service providers (including external counsel), and third parties to answer more routine queries.

Education & Experience
Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience and certifications required for the job
§ Bachelor’s degree required.
§ Minimum 8-10 years progressive legal experience in a corporation, pharmaceutical company and/or law firm experience is preferred.
Proficiency in a body of information required for the job
e.g. knowledge of FDA regulations, GMP/GLP/GCP, Lean Manufacturing, Six-Sigma, etc.
§ Progressive knowledge of contracts and contract terms.
§ Advanced legal research knowledge.
§ Advanced knowledge of public filings.
Often referred to as “competencies”, leadership attributes, skills, abilities or behaviors that may be enterprise, functional or job specific e.g. coaching, negotiation, calibration, technical writing etc.
§ Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
§ Strong presentation skills.
§ Strong, professional interpersonal and leadership skills including the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals and departments.
§ Good writing skills, critical thinking and reasoning abilities are a must.
§ Ability to participate on teams with shared responsibility for outcomes and decision-making; resolving conflicts in a constructive manner.
Physical & mental requirements e.g. lift 40 pounds, walk across plant/warehouse, business travel (% of time), driving as part of work responsibilities, etc.
