Supply Chain Associate
Capital One recognizes that its external suppliers play a vital role in providing innovative services and exceptional quality to its customers. An Associate in Enterprise Supplier Management (ESM) plays a critical part in managing Capital One’s supply chain, ensuring that the company negotiates the best deals with its suppliers, and effectively manages the risks associated with doing business with suppliers. ESM is seeking an associate to provide high quality service to Capital One associates and external suppliers. This ESM associate will play a critical role to enable Capital One to transact with its suppliers in a well-managed manner.
The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving and influencing skills, a keen attention to detail, and thrives in a collaborative environment. Successful associates are self-motivated, possess strong decision-making ability and are comfortable researching and solving problems across multiple areas and in a variety of technologies and systems.
This position, located in Richmond or McLean, VA, is responsible for key risk management, and performance management related tasks for each of their assigned third party relationships. Specific third party relationship responsibilities will be assigned based upon the needs of a Business Unit or Staff function.
This role may be embedded in operations or horizontal support groups, or they may be consolidated in centralized third party management-like functions. Responsible for supporting Business Unit adherence to corporate third party management policy by executing basic company policy requirements, and for ensuring that appropriate documentation exists for their assigned third party relationships.
Responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:
Transaction research and troubleshooting within ESM’s Procurement systems
Partnering with internal Capital One associates to appropriately transact with external suppliers
Managing risks inherent in Capital One’s dealings with external suppliers
Identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities
Generating reports and analysis on spend, risks, and/or process performance
Strong written and oral communication, problem solving, teamwork and collaboration
Ability to work with limited supervision
- Bachelors’ degree or military experience
- At least 1 year of operations management, relationship management, or risk management experience.
- At least 1 year experience in Microsoft Office or Google’s G-Suite
- Bachelors’ degree in Supply Chain Management
- 2 years of experience in project management and project planning
- At least 2 years of operations management, relationship management, or risk management experience
