Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Ground Software Systems Engineer to contribute to the Ground Systems Engineering Team at our Irvine, CA, location. This position reports to the Ground Systems Engineering Manager. The team is responsible for building and maintaining software applications and tools that enable end-to-end operations of our spacecraft and the entire ground segment. The Ground Software Systems Engineer will support Terran Orbital in developing, deploying, and sustaining an extensive system of systems spacecraft constellation.
The position requires experience with systems engineering processes and documentation. You will interact and coordinate daily with numerous stakeholders (Program Managers, Developers, and external/customer organizations). The successful candidate will have excellent communication and team skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement solutions-focused strategies for system architecture and engineering activities, including system requirements, design, interface management, and data architecture

Support various systems architecting and engineering activities such as system requirements definition, design, interface management, data architecture development, verification and validation, integration, performance analysis, lifecycle cost analysis & estimation, decision analysis, and physical configuration assessments

Manage ground segment technical and interface requirements, interface negotiations with external stakeholders, and oversee requirements and interface verification

Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints

Support development of system engineering items such as CONOPs, requirements definitions (or features, themes, epics), system testing, algorithm document review, and interfaces to other application development efforts

Support business development activities, including ground systems architecture development, system analyses, and proposal inputs
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or relevant discipline

3+ years experience in Systems Engineering, Design, and Architecture Development

Excellent communication skills and demonstrated success in technical leadership

Meticulous attention to detail in design and documentation
Distinguishing Qualifications and Skills

Active TS/SCI security clearance
-
MS or PhD in Engineering or relevant discipline

Experience with Qradio

Experience developing complex Ground Systems and Mission Operations

Experience with government cybersecurity requirements, CMMC preferred

MBSE expertise and MBSE development tools (e.g. Cameo)

Familiarity with testing aerospace flight hardware

Developing with industry-standard tool suites to include Atlassian

Experience with space system program lifecycles, development flows, test events, and verification and validation

Understanding of and experience with Git, CI/CD, DevOps, Cloud, Containerization, and Kubernetes

Salary Range $100,000-$132,000
Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
