Purpose of Position
This position coordinates Company’s engineering design, drafting and records management activities, while serving as an engineering design checker and a liaison between Company and outside contractor design and drafting personnel. This position ensures appropriate use of Company engineering, design and drafting standards and coordinates completion of records retention activities on all projects.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
Responsible for performing engineering design checks for ensuring Company and contractor-prepared design drawings comply with project requirements and Company engineering and design specifications and standards.
Responsible for coordinating internal and external design and drafting resources.
Responsible for leading Company’s engineering records management program and assisting engineering and operations personnel in compiling and loading project records into the file management database.
Responsible for streamlining and ensuring efficient usage of Company’s engineering records management program, including preparation and updating of data loading procedures and instructions.
Leads Company’s continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering design, drafting and records programs, as required.
Perform field review of as-built drawings to verify accuracy and prepare redlines to reflect as-built condition, as required.
Performs desktop and field quality assurance and quality control audits on project as-built drawings (redlines) to ensure accuracy of project records.
Provides effective leadership for Company’s design and drafting personnel, including budgeting and forecasting, resource utilization and scheduling and progress reporting.
Provides technical support, coaching and mentoring for engineering and operations personnel in use of engineering design, drafting and records management programs.
Provides technical training on engineering design, drafting and records management topics (as required), including effective as-built redline preparation and use of Company’s file management system.
Assists engineering and operations personnel in development of engineering design and drafting specifications for projects.
Provides assistance in reviewing and approving engineering design documents and drawings for compliance with applicable Company standards and project requirements.
With the assistance from engineering and operations personnel (as appropriate), modify Company’s existing engineering drawings and records to reflect implementation of design changes or as-built conditions.
Perform as Company’s central point of contact and subject matter expert in all aspects related to engineering design and drafting.

Ability to effectively multi-task.
Associate’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, design and drafting technology or equivalent work experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Proficiency in use of Bentley MicroStation computer aided design software, preferred.
Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in engineering design related to natural gas pipeline facilities (or related industry), including civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, piping and instrumentation functional areas.
Minimum 5 years of experience in compiling project engineering and construction records, preferred.
Demonstrated leadership skills, including results oriented focus, effective work prioritization and planning, ability to coordinate and direct work of others and effective conflict management.
Advanced understanding of technology issues and ability to learn and implement new software skills.
Strong organizational, problem solving, and decision making skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to solve design and/or drafting problems within civil, mechanical, electrical, structural, piping and instrumentation functional areas with minimal support from others and solve technical problems associated with fundamental drafting assignments.
Advanced knowledge of basic engineering principles as they apply to design, drafting and operations of natural gas pipeline facilities (or related industry).
Familiarity with pipeline project engineering, design, construction, inspection and testing-related documents.
In-depth knowledge of natural gas pipeline-related industry standards and specifications and federal, state and local codes and regulations.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and customer service skills and ability to coach/mentor others.
Knowledge and hands-on experience with database applications such as FileNet and Bentley ProjectWise, preferred.
Proficiency with desktop programs (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, etc.).
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to remote locations, including out-of-area travel.
