DEPARTMENT: CH - Oncology Clinical Trials.
Duties: This multifaceted position addresses elements of the diagnosis and treatment planning for cancer patients seen within the SJ/C system for the research. The Specialist performs clinical research duties including the consenting and education of patients for the collection of tissue, serum and plasma; responsible for the research documentation and tracking associated with the tissue banking program; will scrub in and assist the surgeons and pathologists with he collection of the tissue specimens and the snap freeze and product preparation.
Requirements: Medical background such as a Physician's Assistant, Registered Nurse or Histotechnologist, Medical Technologist or other related. Bachelor's Degree in a related health science required, Master's Degree preferred. A minimum of 2 years of surgical experience, laboratory experience and interaction with patients. Great organizational skills. Competence in the use of Oncology Software. Must have excellent background in Medical Terminology. Knowledge of tumor nomenclature and classification of systems; knowledge of coding topography and morphology of registered oncology cases is preferred.
