Position Function and Scope:
In partnership with the Broker, the National Sales Manager - Ingredient Sales leads the sales planning and execution plan for Del Monte Foodservice food ingredient. This role will also play a lead role in working with DMPI to manage and develop our Pineapple production and shipments. Position is responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with Key Priority Manufacturers and National Accounts and delivers annual sales and volume objectives. Position can work out of a home office anywhere in the US but Central US is preferred location.
The Ingredient Sales business generates $39MM Net Sales. This position is responsible for directing and developing Ingredient Sales inside sales support.
The incumbent in this position provides sales coverage for the entire United States through effective direct account customer contact sales management coupled with training and directing a network of independent commissioned sales agents.
Products sold through Ingredient Sales are produced both domestically and internationally. The vast majority of Ingredient Sales volume is generated via Pineapple products which are produced by DMPI (owned by DMFI parent company DMPL). Key product line is Pineapple based in the form of concentrate (55 gal drums), bulk aseptic; crushed, cubes, bits and wedges (tidbits). Domestic products produced in our DMFI Modesto plant are #10 size diced peaches, sliced peaches, fruit cocktail and various styles of pears. The incumbent must frequently interface with the DMPI (Philippines) Supply Chain and Plant Operations teams to coordinate production and complex shipping timing cycles to ensure continuity of supply to our contract customers.
Within the Food Ingredient channel, the customer base (often termed industrial) is much different than Foodservice. Example, customers are food manufacturers such as Nestle, ConAgra, Kraft Foods, Coca-Cola, Smucker's, Lyon's Magnus. Given that products are sold as ingredients for manufacturing, the selling process is much more technical in nature vs. Foodservice. To effectively interface with customers which often have a technical background such as R&D, QA, etc., the incumbent must be conversant in product specifications, custom products formulation and nutritional components.
This role has full P&L responsibility for Ingredient Sales. Incumbent must have a working knowledge of the DMFI Financial reporting system and a comprehension of world commodity markets in order to successfully sell in/secure contracts with customers at the correct market price based upon cost trends as driven by supply/demand dynamics.
