Job Purpose:
We are in search of an experienced trailer mechanic who is specialized in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining the components and systems of a variety of trailers used for hauling large loads and livestock.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary job duties and responsibilities are included but not limited to:
Inspect, service, and replace trailer parts as needed.
Repair and/or rebuild trailers according to work orders and blueprints.
Diagnose and repair trailer components such as: doors, floors, and side panels.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical issues.
Repair air and hydraulic brakes.
Diagnose and repair suspension problems.
Fabricate parts from samples, sketches, or verbal instructions.
Utilize appropriate resources to determine most effective and efficient method for repair and locate parts.
Cutting and grinding as needed.
Weld metal parts using MIG welding processes with steel and aluminum.
Completion of work orders in a timely manner.
Document work completed for billing.
Perform quality checks after repairs.
Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.
Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities.
Follow all company rules and polices.
Provide a great level of attention to detail.
Follow all safety rules and quality standards.
Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency.
Knowledge and Skills for this Position:
Ability to read blueprints preferred.
Ability to perform shop math, weight measurements, volume and distance.
Ability to operate machines, hand tools, and other job specific equipment and tools.
Experience with MIG welding aluminum and steel.
Ability to demonstrate successful welding skills in non-standard situations and on varying materials is a plus.
Lift raw materials, final products, and items manually (up to 51 pounds).
Knowledge of safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face shields, gloves, etc.).
Ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision.
Detail oriented, self-directed, good communication, and personal skills.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Must be reliable, with a strong work ethic and desire to contribute to a team.
Willing to work 40+ hours weekly.
Requirements:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older.
Personal tools required (list available upon request). Management may help with the attainment of necessary tools.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening is required.
Random drug testing required after employment.
Working Conditions:
Primarily Service shop working conditions, but outside in various weather conditions may be expected.
Physical Requirements:
General health conditions that enable employee to work a consistent schedule during the day.
Ability to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time.
