Job Overview:
The Medical Office Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the clinic. This role involves a combination of administrative duties and patient interaction, making it a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced medical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients at the front desk.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
- Answer phone calls and handle patient inquiries or route calls to appropriate staff.
- Perform insurance verification and eligibility checks for patients.
- Check patients in and out, ensuring all required documentation is complete.
- Handle data entry and maintain up-to-date patient records in the electronic health system.
- Manage filing of medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Organize and maintain the front desk and waiting area.
- Process prescription requests and call in prescriptions to pharmacies.
- Provide support with day-to-day office tasks and patient flow.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills in all interactions.
- Other administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical office experience preferred
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems (Valant or similar is a plus)
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work in a team and take initiative when needed
