Description
The Associate General Counsel will be a member of 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, INC.'s in-house Legal Department, representing the company's broad portfolio of brands and businesses. The Associate General Counsel will be responsible for handling disputes, advising internal business clients, and litigating cases as counsel-of-record (both independently and under supervision of other in-house litigators) and/or in collaboration with outside counsel. The Associate General Counsel will work on a wide range of matters, including general commercial disputes, employment litigation, intellectual property claims (both affirmative and defensive), insured matters, regulatory compliance and investigations, third-party subpoenas and other matters.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Analyzing claims and formulating litigation and early case resolution strategy
Conducting fact investigations and legal research
Drafting legal papers, including pleadings, briefs, declarations, discovery demands and responses
Handling or assisting with court proceedings (including federal and state court appearances), arbitrations, mediations, and depositions
Advising business clients and senior management on strength of claims and defenses, dispute avoidance and resolution
Responding to third-party subpoenas
Managing regulatory compliance matters, including examinations, audits and investigations
Managing and working collaboratively with outside counsel, as needed
Managing and supervising e-discovery
Reporting and responding to General Counsel and working closely with other senior in-house litigators and lawyers in other practice groups on a broad variety of litigation and risk issues
Drafting and negotiating agreements

Requirements
JD Degree and New York Bar Admission
At least 5 years litigation experience
Strong research and writing skills
Strong communication and oral presentation skills
Ability and/or willingness to work on transactions and related agreements

Eligibility Requirements

Must be willing to work in Carle Place, NY
Must be willing to work occasional holidays, evenings and weekends as needed
Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States

Desired Characteristics

Current or former Assistant District Attorney experience a plus
Strong academic record; journal experience a plus
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Ability to work effectively under pressure; managing multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines
Excellent negotiating skills
